Care guide
Well-cared-for bed linen becomes softer over time. Here are our recommendations by fabric. Always follow the care instructions on the individual product page and label.
General care
- Washing and drying: use the temperature and programme recommended for the specific fabric below.
- Before first use: wash according to the product's care instructions.
- Do not overload the drum: bed linen needs room to rinse properly.
- Avoid: bleach, harsh detergents and excessive fabric softener.
- Fasten buttons and zips before washing to help prevent snagging.
Egyptian cotton
Long-staple Egyptian cotton becomes softer with washing. Follow the instructions for the specific item.
- Duvet cover: wash at 30 °C with a gentle spin; air dry if possible; iron at a low temperature if needed.
- Fitted sheet and sateen pillowcase: wash at 40 °C with a moderate spin. Follow the individual label for drying and ironing.
Washed cotton percale
- Wash at 40 °C with a moderate spin.
- Air dry to preserve the fibres. Washed percale is meant to retain a light crease.
- Iron lightly if you prefer a crisp finish.
Washed linen
Linen's natural creasing is part of its character. It softens with washing and does not need ironing.
- Wash at 30 °C without overloading the drum.
- Dry flat, as indicated on the product pages. Avoid tumble drying.
- No ironing is needed. If you choose to iron, follow the care label.
- Do not use bleach.
Cotton gauze
Cotton gauze is naturally creased: this is part of its character.
- Wash at 30 °C with a gentle spin.
- Avoid high-temperature ironing to preserve the natural crinkle.
- Air drying is preferred to preserve the light drape.
Soft cotton
- Wash at 40 °C.
- Tumble drying on low heat is allowed; avoid overheating.
- No ironing is needed.
Eucalyptus lyocell
- Wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle with mild detergent and a gentle spin.
- Air dry; do not tumble dry.
- If needed, iron on the reverse at a low temperature, following the label.
Mulberry silk
- Hand wash or machine wash at 30 °C on a silk programme, in a protective laundry bag.
- Use a silk detergent or mild, enzyme-free detergent.
- Do not wring or twist. Dry flat in the shade.
- Follow the label for ironing; use a very low temperature on the reverse with a cloth between the iron and fabric if permitted.
Satin
Satin is a weave and should not automatically be treated as silk. Follow the specific pillowcase label.
- For the Noctua satin pillowcase, wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, in a laundry bag.
- Air dry in the shade.
Duvets and pillows
- Always check the label first: a large-capacity machine or professional cleaning may be preferable, depending on the filling.
- The Hotel 4 Seasons duvet should be washed one duvet at a time at 30 °C.
- Dry duvets and pillows completely before use.
- Air your bedding regularly to restore the loft.
- Use a duvet cover and pillowcases to protect the filling and reduce the need for washing.
Cotton gauze throw
- Wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle.
- Air dry or tumble dry on low heat: gauze becomes softer with every wash.
- Do not iron. Untangle the fringes by hand after drying.
Colours
- Wash dark colours separately for the first few washes.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight when drying, as it can fade colours.
Storage
Store clean, completely dry linen away from moisture. For easy storage, place a complete set inside one of its pillowcases to keep everything together.
